There is only so many times you can say, “I hate my job…” before you’ve either got to DO something about it, or shut up.
For me, it was a simple choice.
I’d been in corporate finance for 13 years, worked my way up the career ladder and earned a great salary. But I felt trapped.
I was working so many hours, there wasn’t time to do anything else. I was earning a great wage but my lifestyle had adjusted and I couldn’t afford to quit. I was stressed, tired and very unhappy.
Discovering Network Marketing
I wasn’t looking for another job when I accidentally discovered Network Marketing. Heck, I didn’t even know it was Network Marketing!
Simply, a friend at work was showing a brochure around and I fell in love with the products. I learned that I could sell these products too and earn extra money by sharing with my family and friends. I knew that I didn’t have time to take on anything new, but figured I could easily show a brochure to people I was already in contact with, and my online connections were unlimited!
The Power of the Brand
Ask anyone you know if they have heard of Avon? Seriously, I am yet to find a single person that hasn’t. Do you know how many small (or even large!) businesses would kill to have a brand that is known by every single household throughout the country, and most of the world?
You could not even begin to afford that kind of brand awareness and recognition. Did you know the AVON book is the most widely read publication in the world?!
From product design and manufacturing, to warehousing and shipping – that is all taken care of. From customer support to celebrity endorsements… they’ve got that covered too.
The Beauty of a Residual Income
A residual (passive) income is very different to a regular ‘job’ wage. In a traditional job, you work 8 hours and get paid for 8 hours. The amount you earn is directly proportionate to the number of hours you work. With a residual income, you earn money even when you are not working. (I know, awesome, right?!)
With a multi-level compensation plan, I learned that not only would I earn profit from my own personal sales, but simply by showing others how to sell too, I would also earn a commission on my team sales volume. This is a residual / passive income.
Residual income provides you with the flexibility to focus on things that matter… time with the family, time for yourself, going to the gym (yeah, I still gotta work on this one!)… all whilst earning money.
But aside from the extra income, it’s the freedom it gives. Freedom to be your own boss and spend your time as you choose. I can’t tell you how incredible this opportunity was to me.
Think Big, Start Small, Work Fast
Network Marketing is so flexible that nearly all who start, do so around other work, family and personal commitments. You can grow your business at your own pace, and if you choose, allow your Network Marketing business to replace some, or all, of your ‘job’.
I worked hard. From day one, I made it my goal to be a top recruiter and take full advantage of the additional income stream. All whilst still juggling a job and a one-year-old baby! After 9 months I quit my job.
The company I started out with, is not the company I am with now. That is not a criticism, quite the opposite. I am enormously grateful for the discovery of Network Marketing, but it is important to find a company that is a great match for you. Avon is a perfect match for me and I am excited to be part of this incredible industry.
